Ambient Jam Wales

Ambient Jam Wales is held at Galeri Caernarfon in North Wales and is run in partnership with Antur Waunfawr, a leading social enterprise that provides work and training for individuals with learning disabilities in their community. This Welsh arm of our pioneering and celebrated Ambient Jam programme is led by artist Cai Tomos, who worked with Ambient Jam and Walking Through Walls in London for many years. We have plans to expand this programme even further to Hastings and Bristol in the near future.

‘Mae Ambient Jam yn daith ddirgelwch hudolus iawn. Gyda’r gofod, y goleuadau, y deunyddiau, y gerddoriaeth, yr awyrgylch, y lliwiau, y croeso a’r bobl. O’r adeg y dechreuoch chi yma gyda ni mae wedi datblygu a rwan da  ni yn y gofod hardd hwn yn Galeri Caernarfon. Tin gallu  gweld sut mae ein defnyddwyr gwasanaeth yn elwa’n fawr o’r sesiwn a phan fyddant yn dod i mewn i ofod mor wahanol. Mae’n fwy agored yn Galeri, mae’r holl olau a deunyydiau  yn anhygoel. Mae Ambient Jam yn un math o beth teuluol mawr. Mae’n helpu pawb, y gofalwyr, ein haelodau. Ar ddiwedd sesiwn, rydym yn teimlo’n well. Yn helpu pawb i ddad-ddwysáu fel eu bod nhw (staff gofal ac aelodau) yn mynd adref wedi ymlacio ar ddiwedd yr wythnos waith. Yn ymlaciol iawn. Mae yna staff sy’n eithaf swil ac mae Ambient Jam wedi eu helpu i ddod allan o’u cregyn. Mae wedi galluogi staff i ddod yn fwy hamddenol er mwyn gallu cefnogi ein defnyddwyr gwasanaeth i weithio  yn synhwyraidd yn ystod yr wythnos ac mae wedi tawelu pobl.’

‘Ambient Jam is very much a magical mystery tour. With the space,  the lighting, materials, music, atmosphere, colours, the welcome and the people. From when you first started here with us its developed and now we are in this beautiful space at Galeri Caernarfon. Can see how our service users really benefit from the session and when they come into such a different space. It’s more open at Galeri, it’s amazing all this light. Ambient Jam is one big family type of thing. It helps everybody, the carers, our members. At the end of a session, we feel better. Helps everyone de-escalate so that at the end of the working week they (care staff and members) go home chilled. Very relaxing. There are staff who are pretty shy and Ambient Jam has helped them come out of their shells. It has enabled staff to become more relaxed to be able to support our service users better,  not to be so tight. We’ve learnt from what you do and bought similar materials you use so we can continue the sensory interaction during the week and its calmed people.’
