STIMMING EXCHANGE x Ambient Jam

STIMMING EXCHANGE is an improvisational performance devised by artists Xan Dye and Gerald Curtis. It celebrates sensory communication and stimming, or repetitive movements, through dance, mark making, music and live drawing.

The process of developing STIMMING EXCHANGE has been enriched by different communities of artists and young people, including:

  • A residency over 3 weeks at Greenvale school in collaboration with young people labelled with PMLD
  • A residency with Ambient Jam, a weekly multi-sensory improvisation led by people labelled with PMLD, collaborating with dancers, musicians and visual artists to explore shared presence and reciprocity
  • A happening in collaboration with neurodivergent artists from Project Artworks in their wonderful emerging new hall space

Thank you to these artists and young creatives who gave us extra layers of depth, ideas and understanding of STIMMING EXCHANGE through their creative and expressive interactions with the work, environment, and the team.

Xan, Gerald, and the Ambient Jam Collective are taking the project to Siobhan Davies Dance Studio on Saturday 17th May from 2pm-4pm. The sold out event is open to members of the public, including people labelled with PMLD:
