Meet Me’s 10th Birthday: Celebrating 10 years of Meet Me

by

This autumn, the Meet Me programme, in partnership with the Albany, celebrated 10 years of weekly creative activities with elders from our local Lewisham community. The members wanted to mark and celebrate this moment through sharing their stories and experiences of Meet Me, which you can see in this short film.

Earlier this month we hosted a wonderful birthday party with singing, dancing and cake with members. Hosted by Zoë Gilmour, we were also joined by artists Merlin Hayward, who ran a movement session and poets Courtney Roberts and Lola Oseni, who shared poems inspired by stories of Windrush by some of our members. We also had poetry readings from some of our members as well, followed by a lots of lovely homemade cake from our Meet Me “Fake off”. Thank you to all the volunteers who joined us on the day and took part in the celebrations.

Be sure to see some of the work by members over the years at Deptford Lounge, in an exhibition open until Thursday 21st December.  Meet Me at… the Exhibition
